e-volution updates e-volution Short Film Premieres (10.05) On September 15th, the e-Volution digital short, made by a group of LGBT youths, premiered as part of the 19th London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival on tour. Shown at the Lings Forum, the 8-minute film was a provocative and challenging look at society’s often misguided perceptions of homosexuality and same-sex love, based around a poem written by the group’s own Katie Port. An original soundtrack composed by Dom Rees-Jones of Hot Rocks Music Recording Studio provided the piece with an atmosphere and energy that propelled the viewer along with a succession of powerful images, edited by Russell Heyworth. The project was headed by Emily Tavakoly and Dr Ian McCormick and everyone who attended the showing agreed that it was an achievement for all involved to be proud of. Sadly, the film marked the end of the e-volution project and Emily has
now left for pastures new but she leaves behind a legacy that we are sure
will have an impact for some time to come and we believe that our success
in this project will spur other organisationson to try simillar things.
A little slice of Hollywood in Northampton (09.08.05)
Filming a series of 1 minute shorts to get a feel for techniques and story lines took place with new ideas and creative expression constantly being developed. People are discussing the roles they would like to take on, both in front of and behind the camera. We are very excited about what the next few weeks will bring and will have a 1-minute trailer filmed and edited by the end of August in time for the launch of the LGB film festival. The entire process is also being documented by using a video diary. Anyone
can go into the “diary room” and talk with the camera about
anything which has inspired them, how they're feeling and whatever pops
into their head! e-volution is delighted to have the support of BBC Northants who are following the making of our film on their website. Please visit the BBC pages for more info and audio entries from the makers blog. This is a creative and experimental project which is developing each
time the group meets and new ideas and experiences are explored. Very
exciting…. The premier of the film is on the 15th September at Lings Forum. We are more than happy to accommodate anyone who would like to take part in the project, however big or small his or her role may be. For more details, contact Emily@nlgba.com

What will you be doing this summer? (May 2005) You could be involved in the production of the first short film made by lesbian, gay, bisexual people in the region. We are currently in the planning stages for running a series of film making workshops for those hazy summer days. Our aim is to produce a short film which will be showcased in Northampton and entered into independent short film festivals nationally. With the support of em-media and Threshold Studios, we aim to develop an ambitious visual and sonic piece of work that is produced entirely by the LGB community in Northants. The workshops will cover a broad range of technical and creative aspects of film making - acting, filming and camera techniques, editing and post production, screen play writing, story boarding, narrative techniques, sound and music production. If you feel you’d like to be involved in the first new media project of its kind anywhere in the county….see your film on screen….help others realise their dream….then please get in touch.
Photography Project - NCC Annual Report Learners on the e-volution project have put their photographic skills into practice to document countywide projects supported by Northamptonshire County Council Voluntary Sector Support Unit. The images reflect the scope and variety of community projects supported through capital and strategic grants across the county.
The photos will appear in the County Council's annual report and it is hoped that a selection will be exhibited in venues across the county.
