e-volution 'To Know My Truth Inside'

A very personal poem about sexuality by Katie Port from Northampton.

I try to hide these feelings
But I know my truth inside
Sometimes I get scared
But deep down I know this
Love is genuine
I can’t stand when
People think

This love can’t honour a proper relationship
When people think we
Sleep around
And pretend to be something we’re not

My truth. Homosexuality,
When one is attracted to ones own sex
Legal in the eyes of
Society
But unequal.

And you’re not so very open minded, truth.
Lesbians who think they’re
Guys
Gay men who try to be
Camp women
And we are all
Nymphomaniacs
Who only ever think of sex
And where our next f**k shall be.

So I try to hide these
Feelings
But yes, I know my truth inside
Sometimes I do get scared
But deep down I know
It doesn’t matter what
People think
Because I know this love, my love
Is genuine.

This poem was written by Katie as part of the e-volution digital film making project run by the Northamptonshire Lesbian Gay & Bisexual Alliance.
