GayLine groups are for lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
We offer a safe space to meet others in similar situations and encourage lesbian, gay and bisexual people to feel more confident about our sexualities.
1, If you join us you will:
- Be listened to and respected.
- Listen to and respect others.
- Feel safe to take part in the group.
- Not make offensive personal comments.
- Not question others on the grounds of sexuality, race, religion or gender.
- Not indulge in heavy petting or kissing of others within the group.
- Respect the confidentiality of others, as you would expect your own confidentiality to be respected.
2, You have the right:
- Not talk about anything you don't want to.
- Not be approached sexually.
- Not to be pushed into anything with which you don't feel comfortable.
3, Co-Ordinators:
- Are all lesbian, gay or bisexual.
- Are all volunteers with NLGBA.
- Are not experts who will be able to provide all the answers but will try to help.
- Are not allowed to form sexual relationships with new members of the group.
- Will keep to these guidelines just as everyone else in the group.
- Are trained and attend regular update sessions.
4, The Group
- Is not a dating agency
- Does not arrange social events
- Reserve the right to ask people to leave who refuse to abide by the guidelines or who intentionally disrupt the group.
- Will not allow entry to anyone believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol. Neither of these things are to be used on the premises except in the case of alcohol at pre-arranged functions only.
- Does charge a fee of £1.00 per session unless the person is unwaged. This is to cover the costs of running the group and we will ask all members to respect this policy.
- Will keep members regularly informed of all GayLine's events and activities on the notice boards displayed at the group.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of this service, please raise this with any co-ordinator or a member of the committee.
